Kristi Russell

Originally from California, I have lived in Omaha since 2013. I began training Muay Thai in 2016 but quickly decided that getting punched in the face was not for me. I switched to jiu jitsu that same year and never looked back.

I started training because my husband was interested in training, but it quickly became better than actual therapy for me. I was raised in a conversative, traditional environment, and standing up for myself was not something I was taught. Through the years I have learned not only to stand up for myself but also to protect myself and choose my battles. I want to pass on that feeling of empowerment to anyone who is willing to do the work to find it. I am passionate about creating an environment where everyone is safe, everyone is allowed and encouraged to speak up for themselves, and everyone learns to be respectful, both as a training partner and as a person in the world. I also want to win all the things, so we train hard and stay ready for opportunities and challenges as they arise.
