Marcus “Marcus Johnson” Johnson, born and raised in the small town of Pittsburgh, PA, has always looked for a way to make his gangly frame work for him. Out of high school, he joined the Air Force, where he discovered a love for travel and a fear of airplanes. He then perused a degree in behavioral sciences, which he uses daily to annoy his coworkers and loved ones. After a decade in social services, he got sick of living on 50 cent ramen and got a second degree in IT,and now works as a developer (but we didn’t let him in charge of this website). 

Marcus has been doing BJJ since 2016. His favorite part is pretending to have a Portuguese accent, followed closely by de la Riva guards. Don’t let his skinny ankles fool you, his shins are like razor blades and his strength comes from carrying the weight of generations of expectations. He finds coaching unbelievably rewarding, and you can find him at the gym daily at 5 am, likely lunch classes, and most evenings. His fiancé only knows he is still alive by the ever running cycle of laundry.
